UGA HR's Work/Life Balance office introduces new USG-wide fitness initiative

Six-Week "Health Trails" Fitness Challenge sponsored by University System of Georgia

The Human Resources Department provides programs for promoting Work/Life Balance at UGA. The Work/Life Balance office provides a central location for valuable resources available in both the University and Athens communities to assist staff with managing life.  Their work includes the current University-wide walking initiative in conjunction with the six-week challenge, HealthTrails, sponsored by the University System of Georgia's Well-being program.  UGA's Work/Life Balance Coordinator, Kiz Adams, is also available for individual or departmental consultations.  For more information see www.hr.uga.edu/work-life-balance or contact worklifebalance@uga.edu or (706) 542-7319.

Spring 2017 Office Hours

During Spring 2017, UGA’s OneSource project is requesting from colleges/schools/units preliminary plans related to Chart of Accounts, departmental systems plans and HR Reporting Structure.

Some units have already had unit meetings with UGA’s OneSource team where the request for these preliminary plans are discussed.

In order to assist units in preparing these plans, we will be holding walk-in office hours to work with units on any specific questions you might have. These times are valuable to the OneSource project team as we learn about an individual organization’s requirements; hopefully these opportunities will be helpful to units in determining their implementation plans.

Key Events:

Office hours will be at Tate Center Room 138 on the following dates/times:

Friday, May 5, 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (This location has changed to: Caldwell Hall, Rm. 401)

Tuesday, May 9, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Friday, May 12, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

UGA's OneSource Project - Simpler/edu Query Tool

As part of UGA’s OneSource project, the Simpler/edu Query Tool is being made available to UGA employees. Simpler/edu is a data navigation and query tool that allows authorized employees to access University of Georgia financial data. Data in Simpler/edu includes budget, accounting and payroll transactions and allows “drill-down” functionality on summary level transactions. Simpler/edu is available to UGA employees, who must submit a request for access. For more information, please visit onesource.uga.edu.

UGA’s OneSource Project – We Need You!

UGA’s OneSource project will not be successful without campus involvement. There are several ways UGA’s OneSource project needs you: a) learn about UGA’s OneSource project by visiting the website, b) share information about the project with your co-workers, and c) participate on a team. If you would like to participate on a team, please contact us at onesource@uga.edu and let us know how you would like to be involved.

many thanks to ubas it for updating all division websites!

New Award Categories for Staff Recognition Ceremony in May

Last year we honored over 250 F&A staff members who had achieved five-year service milestones. This year we will continue the tradition of honoring five-year milestones and presenting four merit awards for individual service excellence. For 2017, we are pleased to add a new team award category designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our staff whose collective efforts have truly elevated the stature of this great university.

This year awards are presented in the categories of Customer Service, Unsung Hero, Tough Dawg, Newcomer and Outstanding Team. Staff members are nominated by their peers, and nomination forms are available online or through your unit's Recognition Committee Representative. All of the merit award nominations can be made by peers, but self-nominations are not allowed. However, a team member may nominate the members of a team they have been part of.

Congratulations, Richard!

The Mail & Receiving Department under the Administrative Services Division announces the retirement of Richard Miller, Assistant Manager for Campus Mail. Richard served at UGA for over 20 years and brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to his work at Campus Mail. Richard was a very quiet and thoughtful employee, whose hobbies include bridge and college football. Richard lives in Athens with his wife.

Bulldog Print + Design Opens New Production Facility at the Administrative Services Warehouse

The Bulldog Print + Design team officially moved into the newly-renovated space at the Administrative Services Warehouse on Atlanta Highway in February. This move is the last step in a three-year consolidation plan. The new facility provides more production space for the Bulldog Print + Design staff and there is plenty of room for future growth. The increased space allowed the team to add a new Xerox color digital press to the production area, providing another cutting-edge machine to produce high quality print projects. From a customer standpoint, the facility has more space for customers to review and submit print projects and there is plenty of free parking.

Prior to February, Bulldog Print + Design was located in two facilities, the University Printing plant on River Rd. and the Central Duplicating plant on Spring St. The two operations merged in 2014, in an effort to better serve campus customers and streamline expenses. Bulldog Print + Design will surely benefit from the increased efficiency of having both production teams under one roof at the Administrative Services Warehouse.

While the production facility has relocated off-campus to the Atlanta Highway facility, Bulldog Print + Design maintains a Sales and Design office at 255 South St., on UGA's North Campus, near downtown Athens. In an effort to maintain service with a personal touch, the downtown office provides a campus location for customers to discuss their projects and meet with our design team.
