Welcome Mail and Receiving

Bulk Mail

Several offices on campus utilize our bulk mailing services for mailings. Standard Nonprofit mailings are rated for 200 pieces or more. The specifications and requirements for each bulk mailing are different, so please contact us before completing your mailing for delivery so that we can provide you with the most up to date and accurate information. Using bulk mailing services saves us all time and money and is strongly encouraged.

Addressing Jobs and Larger Mailings
Mail Services can help you with larger mailings, whether originating from UGA or from an outside printer or mailing house. Please review the services below and complete the appropriate form as required.

Addressing, inserting and wafer (tab) sealing
Mail Services can address your First Class or non-profit envelopes, cards, self-mailers, flats or magazines with our direct ink-jet address printer. Mail Services will also insert items into envelopes. Folded cards and self-mailers must be sealed before addressing and mailing or else a surcharge will be imposed by the USPS. Please complete the Bulk Mail Job Request for any addressing, inserting, or sealing job and submit this form to Mail and Receiving Services.

Permit Mailings
Mail Services maintains Non-Profit and First Class permits under the University of Georgia name. We must comply with all USPS regulations for discounted mailings.

Tabbing
Please be aware of the new tabbing requirements that are now in effect by the Postal Service. Please see their website for more information on placement and size of tabs, usps.com. This is for booklet tabbing. You will need two tabs on the leading edge and one of the trailing edge (for mail pieces with two or more staples). This has to be on 28 lb. paper.

Addressing Flats & Magazines
Define the “top half.” Fold and crease the piece, or measure with a ruler.

  • Place the delivery address entirely in the top half. It can be parallel or perpendicular to the top edge, but not upside-down.
  • Done with “top”! Now place the postage and return address in relation to delivery address as it is read (postage to the right or upper right, return address to the upper left).

The delivery address must be entirely within the top half of the mail pieces.

Please give Bulkmail a call BEFORE you have your mail piece printed to make sure you are in compliance with the US Postal Services guidelines. We will do everything possible to ensure that you have a successful mailing. Please contact Susan Baxter at 706-425-3014 at UGA Bulkmail Services if you have any questions.
